Check out ebooks and audiobooks from cloudLibrary for tablets and smartphones

  1. Download the cloudLibrary App from the iOS App Store (for iPads and iPhones), Google Play Store (for Android devices), or Amazon Fire App Store (for Kindle Fire).
  2. Tap on Connect to my library and tap on United States then Illinois and then Westmont Public Library.
  3. Enter your Westmont library card number where it says Library Card ID.
  4. Search or browse for ebooks.
  5. To check out, tap on the book or audiobook you wish to borrow and then tap on the Borrow button.
  6. Go to My Books and tap on the cover to read the ebook or listen to the audiobook. To return an item, tap on Return and then tap on Return on the individual item you wish to return.

Check out ebooks from cloudLibrary for computers

  1. Go to http://ebook.3m.com/library/westmontpl.
  2. Click Login in the upper right corner. Enter your library card number, check “I Accept”, and click Login.
  3. Click Download App in the upper right corner. From the left menu, click either Download App for Mac OS or Download App for Windows, then download and install it to your computer.
  4. Select United States, Illinois, and Westmont Public Library from the dropdown menus. Enter your library card number. You do not need to enter a password. Click Login.
  5. Use the Browse or Search buttons at the top to find titles. Click Borrow to select a title, then click Borrow again to check out the item.
  6. To read, click MyBooks at the top of the screen, then click the item’s cover image. To return an item, click List View in the upper right. Click the red Return button to the right of a title to return it early.

Check out ebooks from Media on Demand for computers or simple ereaders

  1. Download Adobe Digital Editions and authorize with your Adobe ID.
  2. Go to mediaondemand.org and Sign In with your library card number and SWAN PIN.
  3. Search or browse for items.
  4. To check out, click Borrow and Download (select the epub version).
  5. The ebook will open in Adobe Digital Editions.
  6. Connect your device to your computer, and transfer the ebook to your ereader using Adobe Digital Editions.

Check out ebooks from Media on Demand for Kindle

  1. Go to mediaondemand.org and Sign In with your library card number and SWAN PIN.
  2. Search or browse for items.
  3. To check out, click Borrow and Download (select the Kindle version).
  4. You will be redirected to amazon.com to complete your checkout.
  5. If you are connected to wireless internet, your ebook will automatically download to your Kindle.
  6. If you do not have wireless internet, go to “Manage Your Kindle” and select Deliver via USB. Save the ebook to your desktop, connect your Kindle to your computer, and drag the ebook file into your Kindle’s documents folder.

Check out ebooks from Media On Demand for tablets and smartphones

  1. Download the Overdrive Media Console app and authorize it with your Adobe ID (you can create a free Adobe ID if you don’t have one).
  2. Tap the list menu and add Westmont Public Library (Media on Demand Public Library) to your favorites.
  3. Tap on Media on Demand Public Library and Sign In (top right corner) using your library card number and SWAN PIN.
  4. Search or browse for ebooks.
  5. To check out, select Borrow and Download (select the epub version).
  6. Go to your bookshelf and tap on the cover to read the ebook. To return an ebook, tap and hold the cover of the book and select Return.

Check out movies, music, ebooks, and more from Hoopla for computers

  1. Go to hoopladigital.com and click on Log In at the top right of the screen.
  2. Click Sign Up Now, choose Westmont Public Library, and then create an account by entering an email address, creating a password, and entering your library card number.
  3. To search, enter a title or author into the search bar at the top of the screen. To browse, scroll to the media type (Audiobooks, Movies, etc) and click Browse All.
  4. To check out, click an individual title, then click Borrow on the item page. You may borrow up to 6 items per calendar month.
  5. Click on the hoopla logo at the top left to return to the home screen and see your borrowed content.
  6. Click on your borrowed content to watch, listen, or read.

  2. Tap “Don’t have an account? Sign up” and search for Westmont Public Library
  3. Create an account by entering an email address, creating a password, and entering your library card number. Tap Sign Up at the bottom when done.
  4. To search, tap the magnifying glass in the upper right. To browse, tap on the category you’d like to explore.
  5. To check out, tap an individual title, then tap Borrow on the item page. Your content will begin to download. You may borrow up to 6 items per calendar month.
  6. Tap on My Hoopla to watch, listen to, or read your borrowed content.

    An expansive collection of digitized texts that are in the public domain. Everything is free and available in formats for every major ereader. A go to for classics.
  • Internet Archive
    Offers free public access to ebooks as well as other digitized materials including music, films, websites and historical collections. eBooks are available in formats for all major ereaders.
  • LibriVox (audiobooks)
    Free MP3 eaudiobook downloads. Most works are in the public domain. You can also contribute to the project by reading aloud and recording chapters of books yourself.
  • Amazon.com Kindle Store
    For Kindles and Kindle apps only, Amazon.com offers a collection of free ebooks. You must have an amazon.com account in order to download ebooks.
  • Google Play free books
    Formerly Google Books, Google Play offers a variety of digital media downloads. Ebooks can be accessed via Android apps, your web browser, Nook, and/or Sony Reader. You must have a Google Wallet account in order to access free ebooks.
  • Barnes and Noble Nook Store
    Barnes and Noble has a collection of free ebooks for Nooks and Nook apps. You must have a Barnes and Noble account to download ebooks.
  • iBooks/iTunes Store
    Apple’s collection of free ebooks. Launch iTunes on your computer or tablet and sign in with your account in order to access ebooks through the iTunes Store. Ebooks purchased through the iTunes store are available for Apple and EPUB compatible devices.
  • Many Books
    A Project Gutenberg affiliate, Many Books offers free ebooks for download from an easy to navigate site. Browse by genre, title, cover, and reviews. Ebooks are available for all major ereaders.
  • Wattpad
    Streamlined for mobile devices, this site offers free ebooks for the reading at a click of the button. Heavy on the social media aspects, facebook, twitter and pinterest are integrated into the site. Sign up for an account to built a reading list, comment on, or vote for ebooks.
  • Get Free ebooks
    Download free fiction, nonfiction, and self-published ebooks. Ebooks are available for all major ereading devices.
