Get a Library Card
All Westmont residents are invited to get a Westmont Public Library card!
Your Westmont Library card will connect you to nearly 100 other area libraries and more than 8 million items in the SWAN consortium.
To receive and maintain a library card, residents of Westmont must present proof of residency within the Village of Westmont boundaries. An Illinois Driver’s License or an Illinois State Identification Card with a valid Westmont address will suffice in most cases. If the above identification is not available, then a recently dated piece of official mail with the applicant’s current address must be presented. Library cards will be valid for three years or until the patron no longer owns or rents property in Westmont.
Non Residents and Unincorporated Areas
Do you live in an unincorporated part of Westmont, Downers Grove, Oak Brook or Darien?
If we are the closest library to your home, you can purchase a Westmont Public Library card (or cards) for your household that are good for the entire year! For more details, see our Non Resident page.
Businesses in Westmont
Obtaining a Business Library Card
Obtaining a business library card is easy. Simply bring in a letter on official letterhead stating that the business would like to obtain a library card. The letter needs to be signed by the owner (or by the manager of the Westmont location, in the case of larger companies).
We will also need to see proof of business registration in Westmont. This can be a copy of a tax bill, or a business license.
A library card will be issued that can be used by any company representative just by providing them with the card. Employees and other representatives must present the card in order to borrow any items.
The Benefits of Owning a Business Library Card
Business library cardholders have access to all of the same materials and services that other library cardholders enjoy, and can be used in the same way. There are no limitations or restrictions on business library cards.
