Youth Services – Teen Librarian, full-time
Starting pay from $25.69/hour, 37.5 hours/week

The Westmont Public Library is seeking a creative and enthusiastic team member to join our Youth & Teen Services department on a full-time basis. Qualified applicants will be passionate about providing service to young people with an emphasis on students in grades 6-12. They will be proficient in using and demonstrating a variety of technologies and craft mediums, and approach new concepts with a maker mindset. They will be an avid consumer of tween and teen literature and culture, and enjoy providing stellar customer service to a diverse public.
Primary duties include working at the Youth & Teen Services desk to answer questions; providing readers’ advisory for youth and teens in-person and through book reviews, curated lists, and displays; developing print, AV, and digital collections; planning and implementing engaging programs for middle and high school students; leading a Teen Advisory Committee; organizing and training teen volunteers; and developing outreach opportunities with local partners.
The successful candidate must also demonstrate initiative, be organized and efficient, value clear communication, and be a team player. An MLIS from an ALA accredited library school and at least one year of work experience in a public service environment are required. The schedule for this full-time position includes day, night, and weekend hours. This position has a generous paid time off package that includes holiday, sick, vacation, and personal time, as well as health insurance and participation in the IMRF pension plan.
