Patron Services Associate

The Westmont Public Library is seeking a friendly and customer service driven individual to join our team as a Patron Services Associate. Applicants should enjoy serving a diverse public, using a variety of technology, and working collaboratively with staff and patrons. Primary duties include answering patrons’ questions, circulating materials and creating library cards.

Qualified applicants should have a high school diploma; LTA certificate preferred. A minimum of one year working experience in a customer driven environment is required. This is a 19.5 hour part time position which includes night and weekends. Starting salary is $12.24/hour.

Youth Services Librarian

Starting pay is $22.43/Hour, DOQ.

19.5 Hours/Week

The Westmont Public Library is seeking a creative, innovative, and friendly team member to join our Youth Services department on a part-time basis. Qualified applicants will enjoy serving a diverse public, be proficient working with a variety of technologies, and be passionate about learning.

This position serves youth and teens from 0-18 years, and includes morning and afternoon shifts, in addition to regular evening and weekend rotations.

Primary duties involve participating in collection development and working at the youth services desk to provide reference assistance and readers’ advisory. Additionally, this position will participate in planning, presenting, and evaluating programs that serve the educational and entertainment interests of Westmont residents. In addition to departmental responsibilities, staff members have opportunities to participate on committees, advance their professional development, and represent the library at special events.

Requirements:

  • An MLS from an ALA accredited school or an MLS student nearing completion
  • Knowledge of children’s and teen literature
  • Knowledge of current trends in programming
  • Previous experience working with children
  • At least one year of experience in a public service environment are required.
