How it works

Visit our Beanstack site or install the Beanstack Tracker app.

You can log in with an existing Beanstack account, if you have one, or create a new account. To add other family members to your account, simply Add a Reader. See detailed instructions.

Record your reading in Beanstack or on a paper log. For Read to Me and Adult challenges, log each book you read. Grade School and Teen readers track by minutes.

As you hit reading milestones, you’ll earn prizes, tickets to apply towards prize drawings, chances to vote to allocate donations to local organizations (Read for a Cause), and virtual badges.

For participants in the Read to Me, Grade School, and Teen challenges, prizes include* a book of your choice (a list of available titles is available at the Library), stickers, keychains or erasers, notebooks with rainbow pencils, and tickets toward additional prize drawings. Pick up your rewards as you go or all at once, while supplies last, through August 14. The participating child or teen must be present to claim prizes.

*Alternative prizes for babies are available.

Adults can earn WPL-themed calm strips, mini coloring books with colored pencils, and drawing entries for gift cards from local businesses, including Fair Game (in Downers Grove), King Car Wash, and Kim’s Uncle Pizza.

Read for a Cause

As you reach reading milestones, you’ll earn opportunities to vote in support of three local organizations: Hinsdale Humane Society, Literacy DuPage, or SCARCE. At the end of Summer Reading, your votes will turn into donations, funded by Westmont Rotary Club. All ages can participate, including adults!

Youth & teens will cast their votes at the Youth & Teen Services Desk on the Library’s second floor. Adults will vote at the first floor Adult Services Desk.
