Saturday, May 2nd, as well as just about every other day, is Free Comic Book Day at the Library! Let’s celebrate remotely by taking a look at some of our favorite comics.

Superman: Red Son

Imagine a reality where Superman landed not in the farm fields of Kansas but in the Soviet Union during the Cold War! Superman: Red Son turns everything you know about America’s greatest superhero right on its head. Come read what has now become a classic tale of Cold War fear.

Check out Superman: Red Son as well as a host of other DC Comics titles on our platform, Hoopla.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Miles Morales has it made. Not only is he donning the suit of the famous web crawler, he’s now an Avenger, hanging out with Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America. When the rest of the Avengers are defeated, it’s up to Miles to step up and take charge. This 2016 run by Brian Michael Bendis is one of the best Miles Morales stories and demonstrates why he deserves to be one of the few besides Peter Parker to wear the mask.

Check out Spider-Man: Miles Morales and many other Marvel Comics on our platform, Hoopla.

Witch Hat Atelier

Coco is a girl with just one dream: to become a witch. Unfortunately in this world, witches are born, not made. Coco resigns herself to an ordinary life until she meets the magician Qifrey and her whole life turns upside down. Maybe her dream is within reach after all. Kamome Shirahama’s delightful Witch Hat Atelier is is gorgeously drawn and an excellent introduction to the world of manga.

Check out Witch Hat Atelier as well as other manga and graphic novels on our platform, Overdrive.

Hellboy: Seed of Destruction

The ritual is unsuccessful in summoning the Ogdru Jahad. Instead, a small, boy-like red demon has appeared.  Hellboy: Seed of Desctruction sets the stage for Hellboy’s years of adventures to come with the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.
