Want a Little Cheese With Your Adventure? cover

The Librarians television series, now in its first season on TNT, is a spin-off from three made-for-TV movies that starred Noah Wylie as Flynn Carson – the Librarian.  Check out this series that focuses on the Library, an ancient organization tasked with protecting the world from potentially dangerous magical artifacts.  Each of these movies has Flynn Carson embarking on a quest to retrieve one of these ancient artifacts and bring it back to the safety of the Library.  The Librarian solves mysteries using his vast store of knowledge, and fights evil – both human and supernatural.

The headquarters of this Library, unbeknownst to the rest of us, are hidden deep beneath the New York Metropolitan Public Library.  Bob Newhart plays Judson, the head librarian who acts as Flynn’s mentor.  Among the Library’s treasures are Excalibur, Pandora’s Box, and the Ark of the Covenant.

There is some PG level violence and language which would make the movies appropriate for around ages 9 or 10 and up.  The Librarian movies (and the new television series) are lighthearted and fun with plenty of action, adventure, and fantasy – as long as you don’t mind a little cheese.  And a message to my family who have watched these movies with me:  No, this is not what I do at work!

The Librarian:  Quest for the Spear

The Librarian:  Return to King Solomon’s Mines

The Librarian:  Curse of the Judas Chalice
