Charm City Rocks cover

Charm City Rocks is the latest novel by Baltimore based author Matthew Norman. Yes, it’s a romance, but there is a lot more Charm to the plot.

The story follows Billy Perkins, a single dad and music teacher, living in Charm City. Smalltimore, if you will. Billy is passionate about all things music, sharing this love with his son, who is about to be off to college. In an effort to make sure his dad isn’t lonely while he’s off at school, Caleb writes a letter to Billy’s celebrity crush, Margot Hammer, former drummer of the all-female metal band Burnt Flowers. To everyone’s surprise, Margot visits Billy and Caleb in Baltimore and the rest is history. Of course, not without the involvement of Margot’s Hollywood actor ex husband, their daughter in California, and Caleb’s mom, who is in a not-so-happy marriage with someone else.

This is the type of book you just can’t put down! Norman works with humor and sensitivity to address real adult problems including parenthood, failed marriage, new relationships, relocating, and navigating life’s “what ifs”. Similar to Norman’s other novels, the romance is undeniable and prominent without being too mushy or unrealistic. Readers will find themselves smiling, laughing out loud, and on the edge of their seats anticipating what moves Billy and Margot will make next. Maybe even cheering for the Orioles!
