Youth Services Assistant Librarian, part-time
Starting pay is $17.28/hour
19.5 hours/week, including nights and weekends
The Westmont Public library is seeking a creative and service oriented individual to join our team as a Youth Services Assistant Librarian. Applicants should be passionate about providing service to children and their caretakers, be adept at using and teaching a variety of technologies, and love children’s literature and early childhood programming. Primary duties include working at the Youth Services desk to provide reference assistance and readers’ advisory for youth and teens, and planning and presenting storytimes and S.T.E.A.M.-based programs for young children. Additionally, the Assistant Librarian will have the opportunity to participate in collection development activities.
Qualified applicants should have an LTA or Bachelor’s degree and some knowledge of youth literature and programming. At least one year of experience in a public service environment and previous experience working with youth is preferred. This is a 19.5 hours per week part-time position, which includes nights and weekends. Starting salary is $17.28/hour, DOQ. This position has a generous paid time off package that includes holiday, sick, vacation and personal days.
