Youth Services Assistant Librarian
The Westmont Public Library is seeking a creative, innovative, and friendly team member to join our youth services department on a part-time basis. Qualified applicants will enjoy serving a diverse public, be proficient working with a variety of technologies, and be passionate about learning.
Primary duties involve participating in collection development and working at the youth services desk to provide reference assistance and readers’ advisory. Additionally, this position will participate in planning, presenting, and evaluating programs that serve the educational and entertainment interests of Westmont residents. In addition to departmental responsibilities, staff members have opportunities to participate on committees, advance their professional development, and represent the library at special events.

The successful candidate must also be organized and efficient, demonstrate initiative, have an understanding and love of technology, and be a team player. An LTA certificate or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, knowledge of children’s and teen literature and current trends in programming, previous experience working with children, as well as at least one year of experience in a public service environment are required. MLIS students are encouraged to apply.
Hours: PT – 19.5/WK
