Summer Read: Build Your Dreams!
June 6th - August 8th

Youth Program

Children say good-bye to teachers and homework for the summer, but giving up reading for the weeks they are out of school could negatively impact their current reading abilities. Enrolling your child in our summer reading program will provide the encouragement he/she needs to keep reading!

Programs are available for all ages and reading levels.

  • Pre-Readers: Children who don’t read yet listen to 20 books. One prize is awarded after 10 books, and a second prize after 20 books.
  • Early Readers: Children who are beginning readers may log books from the E and ER sections. Every six books read will earn one token. Tokens can then be turned in for prizes.
  • Junior Readers: Anyone reading at a J level or higher will earn a token for every three books read.
  • Young Adult Readers: Young people reading at a YA level must read five books in order to qualify for a prize. For every book read, youth can enter drawings for movie tickets and grand prize baskets.

Teen & Adult Program

The reading program this summer is not just for kids! Visit the Adult Help Desk beginning June 1st for a registration form, and start getting rewarded for reading.

This year, Westmont residents reading at an adult level will receive a commuter bag after logging six books. A ticket for the drawing of your choice will be issued for every book read. The more you read, the better your chances of winning one of several prize baskets.

As in the past, you may read fiction or non-fiction titles as well as listen to audio books.

Parents are also encouraged to join the family reading program and work toward a special prize awarded to the family who reads the most books per person.
