The concept of an angry invading alien force has always been a terrifying concept, I mean hello, War of the Worlds? But an angry invading alien force that kills everything that makes a sound? How would anyone survive without making gasps of sheer terror every few minutes?
As you can assume A Quiet Place is based sometime around the year 2020, where not much of the invasion is discussed, however newspapers are spread about that explains that the aliens use sound to find and kill whatever’s around. Having wiped out a good majority of the rest of the world, a family of five, have learned their way around avoiding noises with the help of their deaf daughter.
While the majority of the movie is Sign Language and Subtitled, it goes about it in a fantastically performed way, not being too obnoxious by demanding you to actually watch a movie instead of putting it on as background noise.
