Based on guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health and other agencies, we have developed safety procedures and guidelines to help keep our staff and community members safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In-person Library Use
The Library building is open for 30-minutes-maximum, self-serve visits during the following hours:
Monday – Thursday • 10 am – 7 pm
Friday & Saturday • 10 am – 5 pm
Sunday • 1 – 4 pm
Please follow all instructions given to you by Library staff. Further guidelines may be issued based on new or emerging data. If you or anyone in your household is not feeling well, please do not visit the Library.
Grab and go! Please limit your visit to 30 minutes or less.
Westmont residents may have an additional 1 hour/day in our computer lab but only for use of our computers. There are no workspaces available.
We will limit the number of people allowed in the building and may ask you to wait outside until someone else leaves before we invite you to come inside.
You must wear a mask that fully covers your mouth and nose at all times.
Staff and patrons must maintain at least a 6 foot distance from others at all times.
We’ve rearranged some furniture, collections, and service desks.
There will be no seating or work/study spaces available.
Staff will be available at service desks for brief assistance. In-depth transactions will need to take place via phone or email, and computer assistance will be available via remote services.
Request items and pick them up in the Library parking lot when they’re ready.

The Computer Lab is open to Westmont residents for one-hour sessions. We encourage you to make an appointment in advance by calling 630 869 6155.
Staff assistance is available via remote services only, and masks must be worn at all times.
Book drops are open for returning Library materials.
Per state library guidelines, we’re quarantining items once they are returned to the Library. Due to the quarantine, items will remain on patron accounts for 3 days after they are returned.
No late fees are assessed for items checked out from Westmont Public Library.
We’re sharing virtual programs—both live and recorded—and take-home kits created by our librarians. To find out what’s coming up, visit our event calendar. Recorded video programs can also be enjoyed on demand on our YouTube channel.
Notary services are available by appointment only for Westmont residents.
Study rooms, meeting rooms, and play spaces are currently unavailable.
