How to renew items through SWAN
Step 1 |
Click on the “Check your Record” option on the main WebPAC page.
Step 2 |
Enter your name, barcode and PIN number and click on “Display record for person named above.” If you do not have a PIN, you must create one. For instructions, refer to the section on how to create a PIN number in the “How to Request a Book through SWAN” page.
Step 3 |
"From
the patron record, click on Click on “Items currently checked out.”
Step 4 |
A list
of checked out items appears. There are two ways to renew items: 1) To renew
all items, click on the “Renew All” button; 2) To renew a single item
or selected items, click on the box in the “Renew” column to the left
of each title and then click on the “Renew Selected Items” bar.
The following screen capture shows the results of a normal renewal of an item, with both the original and new due dates. Patrons should note the new due date on the item.
Step 5 |
A renewal can be blocked for many reasons. Here are the most common ones: 1) the item is overdue 2) the item is on hold for someone else 3) the item has been renewed the maximum number of times or 4) the patron owes too much money.
In each case, the reason for the block will appear in the status area. For example, if an item has already been renewed the maximum number of times, the message “TOO MANY RENEWALS” will appear (shown below).
If the item is on hold for another patron, the message “On Hold” will appear in the status area (shown below).
