I played Dixit for the first time last week and it was a really fun game, centered on creativity and imagination. It starts by giving each player a hand of cards. The first player to go describes a scene on his/her card in one sentence or less. The other players have to choose a card that is similar enough to fool the other players into thinking that their card is the one described by the first player. Each player scores points dependent on how many of the other players choose their card. To keep things fun, the first player cannot score any points unless at least one of the other players chooses their card.
Overall, this is a great game for families and friends. Parents will enjoy that the game can be played with younger children who cannot yet read and that the game will encourage the idea of storytelling. Some other suggested games if you like this game are Dixit Journey, and Rory’s Story Cubes (coming soon).
