My brother Matt was a board-flipper. Perhaps you know someone like that. You’re in the middle of playing a board game when the game turns sharply in your favor and it’s obvious you’ll win. Matt would see that he was going to lose, his face would turn red with anger, and all of a sudden the game board and pieces would be flying across the room.
This weekend, I played a tabletop game that solves the board-flipping problem. Ticket to Ride, in which train routes had been blocked and yelling had occurred. It was very refreshing to strategize together, make decisions together, and win or lose together.
